The Daisy Foundation
We are proud to have joined The DAISY Foundations community of Supportive Associations! The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, by members of his family. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem.) The care Patrick and his family received from Nurses while he was hospitalized inspired the creation of The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, an evidenced-based means of providing Nurse recognition and thanking Nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
Do you have a compassionate nurse leader you would like to nominate for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award?
making a difference Foundation
The Making a Difference Foundation's mission is a simple one: The Making a Difference Foundation exists to ignite and support the volunteer passions of CHG employees and medical providers in communities and around the world. MDF also provides financial support to nonprofit organizations who give humanitarian relief in times of natural disasters, conflicts, and other hardships.
MDF believes that one individual can create a ripple effect of positive change in the world. "Making a Difference" is just that - one person, starting small but thinking big. It's individual talent + effort + focus, combined with others, to make a long and sustainable change.
